LAHORE ( Web Desk ) - A video showing a Lahore police officer taking a bribe while saying “Bismillah” has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread public outrage.

The incident occurred near Ravi Road, where the officer, identified as Abdul Rehman, stopped a citizen on Ring Road and demanded a bribe. Initially, the citizen offered 1,000 rupees, but the officer insisted on an additional 500 rupees.

The viral footage led to strong reactions from social media users. Some criticized the citizen for paying the bribe, questioning the circumstances that forced him to do so, while others sarcastically remarked that it seemed like the officer’s first bribe of the day, starting with “Bismillah.”

Social media user Rafiq Jan commented that corruption by police would continue until the country fully enforces its constitution and laws.

In response, Lahore police acted swiftly. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took strict notice of the matter. The officer involved was immediately arrested, dismissed from service, and subjected to strict departmental action.

DIG Faisal Kamran stated, “The misconduct of one officer tarnishes the reputation of the entire police force. We have a zero-tolerance policy for corruption and abuse of power. Such officers have no place in Lahore Police.”
