Summary Indian shopkeeper wages daily duel with monkey addicted to crisps

(Reuters) - It’s a daily battle of wits between an Indian shopkeeper and a monkey with a weakness for crisps (potato chips).

If Ankur Aggarwal, who runs a grocery shop in Hapur in northern India, lets down his guard for a minute, the adult male monkey makes its move.

CCTV footage from April 10 shows the monkey approaching the shop stealthily and then waiting for the moment to strike.

A second later it is seen running out of the shop holding a chain of crisp packets followed closely by Ankur. The monkey drops its loot while climbing a building and this time the shopkeeper recovers his stolen goods.

Speaking to media, Ankur described it as "a daily duel".
