(Web Desk) - A famous Chinese university has found a pretty unique and strange way to encourage weight loss and promote the generous act of charity simultaneously.
In order to encourage students to live a healthy life, Chongqing University in Southwest China organized a one-month battle against fat in May and 328 students have already lost a whopping total of 1,320 kg.
In the drive, over a 1000 overweight students participated however only 328 could manage to lose weight with three participants losing over 15 kilos in the prescribed period.
The university has promised a health scholarship for all the students that will continue to lose weight. According to organizers of the event, participants who lose weight during the one-month period will get cash rewards ranging from 30 Yuan ($4.4) to 90 Yuan ($13.2) per kg. The first five winners can also get a sport scholarship from 500 ($73) to 2,000 Yuan ($290).

Along with weight loss, the university plans to promote the act of charity as students are encouraged to donate 1/3rd of their cash rewards to charity. This year nearly 20,000 Yuan, approximately $2900 prize money has been donated to those charity funds.
One of the students of the university, Guo Fei, has participated in the event three times achieving varying results each time.

According to Fei, he could not lose weight in the first try but with strong determination, he lost nearly 25kg in the following two years. "After I lost weight, I feel that I have gained more energy and passion in life," he said. "I have become much more confident."
