Summary A London-based TV network allegedly fired a woman by suggesting that she should be a model
LAHORE (Web Desk) – We have heard different reasons for not being selected for a job or getting fired but recently a woman claimed that she was fired for being ‘too attractive’.
Emma Hulse, 24, was appointed at a London TV station named UNIT TV where she had spent just 5 minutes on the shift when the manager of the network told her that she should be on a catwalk.
Later, she received a text message from her agent telling her that she was no longer required at the TV station. Hulse felt angry at getting fired in such a fashion and went to the manager to confront her situation.
He simply asked her whether she was a model. She told that she just wearing just plain clothes and lipstick. The manager told her that she was fired and she should a model. She complained that she was fired even though she looked appropriate for the job.
The 24-year-old said that maybe she was a distraction for the manager and company for being too pretty or maybe the company had a policy to hire only plain-looking people.
It was later reported that the man who fired Hulse had himself been fired as the company took notice of the matter. The company has been widely criticized for sexism at workplace.
