Summary BigDog demonstrates strength as it picks up breeze blocks and throws them across a room.

(Web Desk) - The quadruped robot, which was created in 2005, is three feet long and weighs more than 17 stone.

It uses four legs, rather than wheels, for movement, and its inventors hope that it will help them to develop a robot which can go anywhere that humans and animals can go.

BigDog has been programmed to handle heavy objects by using the strength of its legs and torso to help power the motion of its arm.

Boston Dynamics, which helped develop BigDog, believes the whole-body approach to movement, which is often used by human athletes, will enhance the performance of other robots.
