Summary Surveillance video obtained by QMI Agency shows the van driving right into the Medi-Select store.
A receptionist says it was either luck or a guardian angel that saved her life when an out-of-control minivan smashed through the front of a store and crushed her desk.Nathalie Lacroix escaped with minor injuries Monday when an elderly man crashed his minivan through a medical supply store in the provincial capital.Surveillance video obtained by QMI Agency shows the van lurching forward and driving right into the Medi-Select store where Lacroix was sitting at the front desk. She didnt seem to notice the van until it had smashed her desk to pieces, but she was somehow squeezed out of the way and into the arms of a colleague. All I remember is feeling the counter hit my arm and my back, she told QMI Agency. I ran off, screaming in the store, then I fell into my friends arms. She said she hasnt been able to shake the sound of the accelerating van out of her mind.I really heard (it), she said. I still hear it in my head...then the sound of broken glass.I cried seeing the video.Lacroix has a few bruises and scratches, as well as back and chest pain. But she admits it could have been worse.I dont know if I have an angel over my head or anything, but really, yes, Im lucky. The elderly man behind the wheel had just left the store after buying a wheelchair. Its believed he mistook the gas pedal for the brake.
