A huge flaming moon lantern lights up a central Hong Kong park to launch Chinas mid-Autumn festival celebrations. The imposing, six-storey-high moonlike lantern entitled the Golden Moon was lit up to spark off Hong Kongs Mid-Autumn festivities on Thursday.The design was selected through an open competition and won by an architectural team of Kristof Crolla and Adam Fingrut.The giant sculpture sits in a pool and is surrounded by dozens of floating Chinese lanterns featuring a pathway for visitors to walk through.The Mid-Autumn Festival, originally a harvest festival, is one of the most important holidays in the Chinese calendar.
