ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public advisory urging citizens to adopt stronger digital security practices to protect themselves from cyber fraud and online threats.

In its advisory, the PTA emphasized the importance of using strong and unique passwords for online accounts, encouraging users to develop secure password habits to safeguard their personal information.

The authority advised internet users to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever possible, describing it as a key step in enhancing online security. It also warned against using the same password across multiple accounts, noting that such practices can increase vulnerability to cyberattacks.

According to the advisory, users should avoid creating simple or easily guessable passwords and refrain from using personal information such as names, dates of birth, or common number combinations as passwords.

The PTA further urged citizens not to share passwords with others and to update them regularly to reduce security risks.

The advisory also recommended the use of biometric security features, including fingerprint and facial recognition technologies, to provide an additional layer of protection for digital accounts and devices.

The telecom regulator stressed that strong passwords are essential for a secure digital future and encouraged citizens to follow its guidelines to improve their online safety and protect themselves from cybercrime.
