Summary WhatsApp is developing an Android widget that may let users record and send voice notes directly from the home screen, with support for sharing a single message with multiple contacts

(Web Desk) - WhatsApp is reportedly working a new feature for Android users that could make sending voice messages faster and more convenient by allowing recordings to be made without opening the app.

The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.24.2 and is currently under development. It is not yet available for testing by beta users, according to reports.

The upcoming feature is expected to arrive in the form of a dedicated home screen widget. The widget would appear on Android devices in a compact 3×1 format and could be resized according to user preference.

The interface is expected to be simple, featuring a microphone icon alongside a “Tap to Record” prompt. Users would be able to start recording a voice message directly from the home screen by tapping the microphone icon, eliminating the need to first open WhatsApp.

Once the recording is complete, users would reportedly be given the option to select a contact and send the voice message through WhatsApp.

Another notable feature under development is believed to be support for sending the same voice note to multiple contacts simultaneously. Currently, users must forward a voice message separately to each recipient.

WhatsApp has not yet announced an official release date for the feature, and details could change before it becomes available to the public.
