Summary Mexico City mayor introduces first series of electric taxis in an effort to become more green.

Mexico City, a huge metropolis of 20 million people, put into action its first three electric Nissan Leaf taxi cabs and opened its first electric charging station. The move is part of an agreement between Nissan and the local government to promote a greener city.Mexico Nissan President, Jesus Munoz, said another 100 vehicles will be delivered by the end of this year as well as another quick-charge station.A fleet of 100 Nissan Leafs will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by five tones per day, according to Nissan. The quick-charge station in the middle of town uses solar energy and it will take a car battery 30 minutes to charge.
