Summary The annual 10-day London International Animation Festival has started.

Animation is not just for children, thats the message from the man in charge of the London International Animation Festival. The annual 10-day event in August and September that includes screenings and workshops has just started in the British capital and film festival director Nag Vldermersky was quick to dispel any myths that animation is only popular with kids.A total of 288 films from across the globe will be screened during the event, starting with the world premiere of British animator Phil Mulloys new feature, Dead But Not Buried. Despite being a previous Best of Fest winner, Mulloy admitted he would not sit in the cinema and watch it with the audience. For his feature, Mulloy didnt use paint brushes. Instead the film, which is the second part of a trilogy, was made using a computer graphics tablet. The protagonists, the Christies, are made to feel like non-humans who live in a world where friends arent really friends and nothing anyone says is important. The festival will end on September 4 with a Best of the Festival showcase, determined by judges and audience votes.
