An internet campaign launched on social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter saved the life of a 3-year-old lion Ariel that was paralyzed a year ago.The 310-pound lion started limping over one year ago prompting doctors to carry out a surgery to remove a herniated disc which they believed was causing the problem. The online campaign managed to raise funds to pay for his $11,000-dollar monthly hospital bills. Nearly 60,000 people have clicked on the like button on Facebook and hundreds of others made donations to two bank accounts aimed at helping abandoned animals. Many doctors have become interested in helping Ariel since his story began to run on the internet.Ariel will be able to walk again soon after finishing a five-day blood purification procedure called plasmapheresis.
