Summary Facebook and Google failed to take down fraudulent adverts, claims consumer group

(Web Desk) – Consumer group Which? has claimed that Facebook and Google have failed to remove online scam adverts.

A study has found that Google has failed to remove 34% of the scam adverts reported to it, compared with 26% at Facebook.

In a response, both the companies said that they have removed fraudulent adverts, but Which? said a more practical approach is required.

Which? consumer rights expert Adam French said, “Online platforms must be given a legal responsibility to identify, remove and prevent fraudulent content.”
