Twitter users send 200 million tweets a day

13 percent of the online US adults aged 18 and older use Twitter, up from eight percent in November 2010. Twitter grew 1,382% year-over-year in February, registering a total of just more than 7 million unique visitors in the US for the month.Five years ago, a small but dedicated team began work on the service that would become Twitter. Since then, Twitter has grown by leaps and bounds. In the past year alone, the average number of tweets per day has nearly tripled from 50 million to 140 million which now has become 200 million. As the number of tweeters has exploded, the services staff has been expanding, too. Twitters initial team consisted of eight members which now has reached 400.
