Updated on

Summary Twitter plans to unveil its own photo-sharing service.

Currently when Twitter users want to attach photos to their tweets, they turn to third-party services such as TwitPic and yfrog and links to images appear in the tweets. Twitter’s own service would work in much the same way. This could be one way to bring in some cash for Twitter. The launch of a photo-sharing service would also be another signal of Twitter’s intent to take control of its ecosystem. Photo sharing is the next logical step of Twitter expanding it’s in app experience. Twitter will spend more resources on photosharing as these images are the crux of the success of competitor Facebook. This new application of Twitter can surely intensify the competition between the two social networking giants; Facebook and Twitter. An official announcement will be made by Twitter at the D9 conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California
