Summary A Russian businessman has bought the Vostok 3KA-2 space capsule for $2.9 million in USA.

Evgeny Yurchenko, the chairman of the AS Popov investment fund won the capsule with a phone bid of 2.5 million dollars. Adding the auction house commission, the total cost will be around 2.9 million US dollars.The Vostok 3KA-2 capsule was the immediate predecessor to the Vostok 3KA-3 capsule that carried cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on his historic mission in 1961, making him the first man in space.
