Summary Space shuttle Discovery, reached the international space station on its 39th and the last mission. In 26 years of service, oldest of the three shuttles at NASA, has traveled a record 143 million miles. The shuttle left earth on Thursday on its 11 day mission carrying almost 10 tons of equipment.
Space shuttle Discovery arrived at the International Space Station on Saturday, making its final visit before being parked at a museum. Altogether, there are 12 people aboard the joined spacecraft, representing the United States, Russia and Italy. Before the start of this mission, America decided to retire all three shuttles Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour in this year. Space shuttle Atlantis and Endeavour will make their last flights in the next four months before retiring.
