Summary Aaqib Javed has denied reports of his resignation or removal as PCB selection committee chairman, calling the claims “fake news” amid reports of possible changes to the board’s structure.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan national cricket team selection committee chairman Aaqib Javed has rejected reports that he has resigned from his position or been removed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Speaking to a media outlet, Aaqib dismissed the reports as baseless and said there was no truth to claims about his resignation.

“No resignation, this is fake news,” Aaqib said in a brief response.

His clarification comes amid reports in several media outlets suggesting that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is considering major changes to the board’s administrative structure following the Pakistan team’s recent performances.

According to those reports, the possible changes could include Aaqib’s removal as chairman of the national selection committee.

Reports had also suggested that former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz, who serves as a mentor for the women’s cricket team, could leave his position after the Asian Games in Japan.

However, Aaqib’s latest statement directly contradicts reports concerning his own departure from the PCB, describing the resignation claims as fake.
