Summary Harry Brook, Justin Greaves and Tanzid Hasan are shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for July after standout performances across international cricket.
(Web Desk) - England captain Harry Brook, West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves and Bangladesh opening batter Tanzid Hasan have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for July.
Brook led by example during England’s successful home series against India particularly in the T20 format where he was named the Player of the Series, Greaves’ all-round brilliance in home Tests against Sri Lanka and Pakistan helped the West Indies to victory over both, and Tanzid’s consistency as an opening batter for Bangladesh in their tour of Zimbabwe helped set up their recovery from losses in the one-off Test match and ODI series to win the T20I series 2-1.
Harry Brook (England)
The skipper may not have enjoyed great batting success in England’s successful ODI series, chipping in a total of 31 runs, but he more than made up for it in the T20I series. He blazed his way through the shorter format, accumulating 229 runs across five matches at an impressive average of 114.50 and strike rate of 214.01. He was named the Player of the Series and finished as the series’ leading run-scorer.
Justin Greaves (West Indies)
The West Indies have kept a busy calendar, and Greaves has shown up consistently for his team with both bat and ball across Tests and ODIs. After the hosts won the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Antigua, he helped save the second, which resulted in a draw and a series win for his team thanks to an outstanding 180 in response to a daunting declared total of 549/9 by the visitors. Against Pakistan in Trinidad later the same month, Greaves stepped up once again. He took five wickets for 27 and two for 12 in the first and second Tests respectively to help his side draw the series. July ended with Greaves scoring 215 runs at an impressive average of 71.66 in two Test matches and taking eight wickets at a miserly average of 10.25.
Tanzid Hasan (Bangladesh)
Tanzid was Bangladesh’s most consistent contender in their toughly contested tour of Zimbabwe. His contributions in the ODI series in Harare saw him return 159 runs in three matches at an average of 53.00 and strike rate of 89.83. His good form crossed over to the T20I series in Bulawayo, where he added 140 more runs to his tally at an average of 70.00 and strike rate of 127.27, finishing the tour as the leading run-scorer for both white-ball series.
