COLOMBO (Web Desk) – Two members of Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team were arrested in Colombo following allegations that they secretly recorded women inside a hotel bathroom during their stay.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Narahenpita area of the city, where the team had been accommodated. Complaints were lodged by several women staying at the same hotel, who alleged that they were being filmed without consent while bathing. The recordings were reportedly made using a mobile phone.
Police moved swiftly after receiving the complaints, taking the two players into custody. Authorities later released them on personal bail set at 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees, equivalent to approximately Rs436,000.
Investigators are now examining whether any of the alleged footage was distributed online. Officials confirmed that digital evidence is being reviewed as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The accused were produced before a local court for a preliminary hearing, where the case was formally registered. The next hearing has been scheduled for 25 May as proceedings continue.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket has not yet announced any disciplinary measures against the players. The development comes amid a period of administrative changes within the board, including the dismissal of several officials and the formation of a new transformation committee.
