Summary Usman Khan’s 101 leads Hyderabad Kingsmen to a successful 214 chase against Multan Sultans in PSL 11 Match 33.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Hyderabad Kingsmen produced a commanding batting display to chase down a daunting 214-run target against Multan Sultans in the 33rd match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium on Wednesday, sealing victory with three balls to spare.

The high-scoring contest saw momentum swing dramatically after Multan Sultans posted a formidable 213/7 in their allotted 20 overs, powered by a century from Steve Smith and a fluent half-century by Sahibzada Farhan.

Earlier, Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne’s decision to field first appeared to backfire as the Sultans’ top order dominated proceedings. Smith and Farhan laid a strong foundation with a 132-run opening partnership, taking control of the innings with aggressive stroke play.

Farhan scored 66 off 43 deliveries, striking boundaries regularly and clearing the ropes four times before falling in the 13th over. Smith, however, continued his charge and brought up his maiden PSL century in emphatic fashion during a 28-run over, eventually top-scoring with 106 off 50 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes.

Despite the solid platform, Hyderabad Kingsmen’s bowlers managed to regain some control towards the end of the innings. Akif Javed led the effort with three wickets for 30 runs, while Mohammad Ali, Glenn Maxwell, Hassan Khan and Hunain Shah chipped in with one wicket each to restrict the Sultans to 213/7.

Chasing 214, Hyderabad Kingsmen responded with authority, anchored by a sensational innings from Usman Khan, whose unbeaten 101 off just 47 deliveries turned the contest decisively. His knock, featuring five fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 215, stood out as one of the most impactful innings of the tournament.

Usman found strong support from captain Labuschagne, who contributed 61 off 41 balls, ensuring stability during the middle overs. The pair’s partnership kept the required rate in check despite early setbacks, including the quick dismissals of Saim Ayub and Kusal Perera.

The chase gathered pace rapidly as Usman accelerated, taking on the Sultans’ bowling attack with a series of powerful hits. Late contributions from Hassan Khan, who remained unbeaten on 24 off just eight balls, and Irfan Niazi further ensured there were no late hiccups.

Hyderabad Kingsmen reached 214/6 in 19.3 overs, completing one of the most notable chases of the PSL 11 season and extending their winning streak to four matches after a difficult start to their campaign.

For Multan Sultans, Peter Siddle and Muhammad Ismail were among the wicket-takers, but their efforts proved insufficient in the face of an aggressive Kingsmen batting line-up.

The result keeps Multan Sultans on 12 points from eight matches, while Hyderabad Kingsmen continue their resurgence with a fourth consecutive victory, intensifying the race for playoff qualification in the closing stages of the league phase.
