MUMBAI (Web Desk) - A British broadcast engineer working during the Indian Premier League 2026 has died under mysterious circumstances in Mumbai, police confirmed on Tuesday.
According to authorities, 76-year-old John William Langford was found unconscious in his hotel room in South Mumbai. Hotel staff immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Officials stated that Langford was in India to fulfill his duties as a broadcast engineer with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, overseeing coverage of IPL matches.
Police said that the initial post-mortem report has not revealed any signs of foul play. However, a case has been registered and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
The IPL 2026 season began on March 28 and is scheduled to continue until May 31.
