Summary Russia lead individual all round and Spain group all round after 1st day of Olympic qualification.
The first day of Olympic qualification in the Rhythmic Gymnastics events in London on Monday saw Russias Daria Kondavoka, runner up in the 2011 world championships, leading.Second after the hoop and ball routines was Ganna Rizatkinova of Ukraine while Anna Alyabyeva of Kazakhstan lies third.World champion Evgenia Kanaeva of Russia and third placed Aliya Garaeva have already qualified but opted to miss the London meeting.Five individual Olympic places are still available after 15 were allocated in the world championships in Montpellier in September 2011.The qualification events are being held in the North Greenwich Arena (known for concerts as the O2 Arena) while the 2012 Olympic rhythmic gymnastics will be held at Wembley Stadium. Nevertheless Kondavoka decided to come to London to compete and view the Olympic venues.Spain led the group all round event with Ukraine second and Israel third.Four Olympic spots are available, with Italy deciding not to attend, having already qualified for London 2012. Great Britain as host are assured a place too.This left Spain, Ukraine, Israel, Switzerland, France, Greece and Azerbaijan competing for the places with qualification continuing on Tuesday.
