The capital of Azerbaijan unveiled its 2020 Summer Olympics logo and presented the Games slogan to the public.National Olympic Committee officials and prominent sportsmen applauded as the bright coloured logo, symbolising a traditional handmade carpet with the date 2020 woven into it.Although Baku is not widely considered a frontrunner among the applicants for the worlds biggest multi-sports event, the slogan Together we can is hoped will inspire people.Azerbaijans Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov, said: Hospitality of Azerbaijan people is very high, and we just want to show this hospitality to the whole world during the Olympic Games. Azerbaijan is very highly, very speedily, very fast developing country.The International Olympic Committee will elect the winning bid at its 2013 session in Buenos Aires, Argentina after drawing up a shortlist in May next year.Tokyo (Japan), Madrid (Spain), Istanbul (Turkey), Rome (Italy) and Doha (Qatar) are the other applicant cities.Tokyo and Madrid, which is bidding for the third time in a row, both lost out to Rio de Janeiro in the race to host the 2016 Games, while Baku also put in a bid but failed to make the shortlist.
