Summary Pakistan failed to qualify for mens hockey final Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
Pakistan did not get the edge against New Zealand to draw the important match by 1-1 in the International Super Hockey Series at Perth.In another exciting match, Pakistan dominated for the most part against strong New Zealand who thrashed India by 6-3 but Pakistan missed a golden opportunity to seal the win as they missed many penalty corners.Green Shirts got the first penalty corner in the 5th minute of the first half and Shafqat Rasool lead the Pakistan in the game by 1-0 but Kiwis equalized the score 1-1 in 12th minute with a diving reverse stick shot of Joel Baker.In this match too, Pakistan goalkeeper Imran Shah had to make four brilliant saves to deny the New Zealand the lead in the second half of the match. Pakistan got many chances in the second half but failed to score the most important goal.In the last minute, Pakistan got another opportunity through the penalty corner but they are not finished the match with the wonderful victory.In the second match host Australia crush the hopes of India for the final qualification as the Kookaburras won the match by 3-1. Australia once again remained dominant in whole of the match and never allowed the Indian side to make any pressure on them.In the women’s side Australian Hockeyroos will face India in the final which will be held Sunday while Hockeyroos thrashed India by 3-2 in the last round match on Saturday. The Australian women earlier in the evening beat Malaysia 2-0, and will play the Indians in Sunday’s final regardless of results in the final round robin matches on Saturday.
