Summary Australia's Casey Stoner was the fastest in first practice for the Indianapolis MotoGP.

Honda rider Stoner clocked 1:40.724, with Ben Spies of the USA second fastest in 1:40.918 on a Yahama. Stoners team mate and last year’s race winner, Dani Pedrosa of Spain, was third in 1:41.205.Another Spaniard, Jorge Lorenzo, was fourth fastest on his Yamaha; Stoner and Pedrosas team mate Italian Andrea Dovizioso was fifth; and Colin Edwards of the USA sixth on his Yamaha.Stoner commented afterwards: Its slippery out there, very, very slippery and you know on such a tight, twisty track, its definitely not the best conditions to be out there in. You know, we saw a big improvement from the first session to the second, but its still by no means, you know, in good condition.Simone Corsi crashed in Moto2, but came back to record the fastest time, followed by Marc Márquez and Mattia Pasini.
