Summary Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez team Katusha secured a solo win on stage five of the Tour of Spain.
Rodriguez blasted away with 500 metres to go on a short but steep final climb in the town of Valdepenas de Jaen to take a second successive stage victory for the Katusha team. Rodriguez covered 187-km in 4 hours 42 minutes 54 seconds.Wouter Poels of the Netherlands was second, with Spains Dani Moreno, the winner of Tuesdays stage, in third.Quick Step rider Sylvain Chavanel of France retained the overall lead for a second day running. The Tour of Spain finishes on September 11 in Madrid.
