Yacht skippers hoping to take part in the 34th Americas Cup in 2013 are preparing for the inaugural World Series event in Portugal beginning on Saturday.The series starting in Cascais is designed to give all sailors likely to take part in the Americas Cup challenge, or actual race, experience of catamarans similar to the ones due to be used in 2013.The World Series uses AC45 wing-sailed catamarans, which were tested off Auckland in May, while the Louis Vuitton Cup for challengers and the Americas Cup in 2013 in San Francisco are due to use AC72s.The current Americas Cup holder is Oracle Racing whose chief executive officer, Russell Coutts, won the trophy four times as a skipper.At a news conference in Cascais, he expressed confidence in his team.
