Summary Sebastian Loeb wins the Finland Rally to extend his lead in the world championship.
Citroens world champion Sebastien Loeb won Rally Finland for the second time in his career to forge further ahead in the overall standings.The French seven times world champion, who also won in Finland in 2008, was the first non-Nordic driver to win the rally on two occasions.Loeb beat Fords Finnish driver Jari-Matti Latvala by 8.1 seconds with Citroens other French driver, Sebastien Ogier, in third place ahead of Fords Mikko Hirvonen.Norways Petter Solberg took fifth place, one minute 16 seconds behind Loeb.Latvala was pushing hard in the final stages and was closing the gap on Loeb, who was obviously nervous before he clinched victory.I tried really hard but for sure Latvala is getting close, so I dont know how much he will give me in this one, well see how much we have left for the next stages, hopefully we will have enough, I dont know, he said before the 66th win of his world championship career.He leads the title race with 171 points from Hirvonen on 144 and Ogier on 140.The next event is the German rally from August 18-21.
