Summary Shahar Peer beat Alla Kudryavtseva 6-1, 6-4 to advance to quarterfinals of the inaugural Citi Open.
Peer, ranked 24th, made it to her first WTA Tour quarterfinal since early March. Her opponent in the quarterfinal will be eighth-seeded Alberta Brianti of Italy, who needed only 52 minutes to oust American Varvara Lepchenko 6-1, 6-2.Third-seeded Tamira Paszek of Austria beat American qualifier Madison Brengle 6-3, 6-1 and will play Stephanie Dubois in the last eight. The Canadian advanced by dominating the tempo in the third set against Britains Heather Watson to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.The other two matchs in quarterfinals are: second-seeded Nadia Petrova of Russia against fifth-seeded Serbian Bojana Jovanovski, and American Irina Falconi against Virginie Razzano of France.
