Summary Steve Waugh has claimed that 56 cricketers were approached by bookmakers in the past one year.
In an interview with a British broadcasting organisation, former Australian captain and MCC World Committee member Steve Waugh said that acoording to International Cricket Committee report, 56 cricketers have reported being approached by illegal bookmakers in the past one year alone.He said that names of only five cricketers came to light and out of those three Pakistani cricketers, Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Aamir, were banned by ICC from participating in international cricket.He suggested that lie-detector tests should be used to nab corrupt cricketers.
