Summary A British crown court on Friday set October 4 as the date for trial of the Pak spot fixing trio.
In the spot fixing case Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, and Mohammad Aamir along with their agent Mazhar Majeed failed to appear in court. A provisional trial date of October 4 has been set for the hearing. Hearing of the spot fixing case was held South Work Crown Court. Accused of corruption and fraud, test cricket captain Salman Butt excused himself from the hearing before hand. While Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Aamir and agent Mazhar Majeed did not appear in court. If the trio are found guilty of corruption, they will face upto seven years in prison along with a heavy fine. On the other hand, if they are found guilty of fraud, then the cricketers along with the agent would face two years in prison and a heavy fine.
