Rain and snow fall marred the opening stage of the cycle race in California. Britain’s Ben Swift of Team Sky emerged winner of the 123-kilometre first stage. He covered the area in 2 hours, 47 minutes and 12 seconds.Peter Sagan of Slovakia secured second position and Matthew Goss of Australia remained third.Second stage of the 7-day event is being held today.
