Summary Pakistan beat Malaysia to make a place in the final of the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup after seven years.
In order to reach the finals, Pakistan needed either beat or draw the match against Malaysia. The Pakistani squad beat Malaysia 3-2 in the match played in Ipoh. Pakistan will now face defending champions Australia in the final match at the Azlan Shah Stadium on Sunday. The final is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm according to Pakistan Standard Time.In the beginning of the match, an aggressive strategy played into the hands of Pakistan as they ended the first half with a 2-1 lead over Malaysia. In the second half both the teams’ scored to bring the score to 3-2 as the game concluded. The Pakistani hockey team has made it to the finals for the first time since 2004. The last time Pakistan won the Azlan Shah Hockey tournament was in 2003. The Pakistani team has won the cup three times.
