Summary Indian tennis star Sania Mirza got eliminated in singles event but reached the doubles semi finals.
Sania Mirza partnered by Elena Vesnina advanced to the doubles semi-finals of the WTA Family Circle Cup in Charleston. In the doubles quarter-finals, the pair of Mirza and Vesnina came from behind to beat Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia and Anastasia Rodionova of Australia 3-6 6-2 10-8. Earlier, Sania’s singles run ended with a 6-2, 2-6, 2-6 defeat in the quarterfinals against Peng Shuai of China. On the other hand, the un-seeded Elena Vesnina defeated Peng Shuai in the semi finals to make a place in the finals. This will be the first time Vesnina will be playing a final match. Elena Vesnina will now face Caroline Wozniack in the finals of the tournament on Sunday.
