PESHAWAR (APP):Noor Zaman, Muhammad Ammad, Abbas Nawaz and Waleed Khalil moved to the semi-finals of the Under-15 category after victories against their respective rivals in the quarter-finals of the National Junior Age Group Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Friday.

Besides the Under-15 category quarter-finals, the quarter-finals of the Under-17 category was also played and among them Farhan Hashmi of SNGPL, Hamza Sharif of PAF, Rafi Khan of Sindh and Muhammad Saqib Iqbal of PAF also reached to the semi-final of the Under-17 category.

In the first quarter-final match of the Under-15 category, Noor Zaman defeated Ahad Shoukat of Punjab in three sets battle, the score was 11-7, 11-8 and 11-9. Noor Zaman fully dominated the proceedings and did not give much time to Ahad to strike back.

In the second quarter-final, Muhammad Ammad of PAF beat Fahad Sharif by 3-0. The score was 11-6, 11-9 and 11-8. In the third quarter-final, Abbas Nawaz of PAF also recorded victory against Kashan Malik of Punjan in another thrilling match with 12-10, 11-9 and 11-9. Abbas Nawaz faced little resistance against Kashan Malik of Punjab but he played well and marched into victory.

In the last quarter-final, Waleed Khalil of PAF beat Wajahat Ullah of KP by 3-0. The score was 11-9, 11-8 and 11-7. In the Under-17 category top seed Farhan Hashmi of SNGPL defeated Abdur Wahid of KP in straight sets, with score of 11-9, 11-6 and 11-8. Farhan Hashmi dominated the proceedings and raced up to victory in straight sets. In the second quarter-final Hamza Sharif of PAF defeated Movia Hussain of KP in straight sets. The score was 11-7, 11-9 and 11-8.

It was the thrilling match between Rafi Khan of Sindh and Rashid Daulat of KP wherein both stretched to five sets battle 3-2. Rafi Khan failed to click in the first two sets won by Rashid Daulat at 10-12, 9-11 but he staged a strong comeback and first tied the tally 2-2 after winning the third and fourth sets 12-10, 11-7 and also succeeded in winning the fifth and decisive set by 12-10.

In the last quarter-final Muhammad Saqib Iqbal of PAF defeated Shahah Khan of Punjab by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 12-10. Gulab Sher, Nazir Khan, Kamran Khan and Munawaz Zaman acted as officials of the Championship.
