(WebDesk) - With the FIFA World Cup fast approaching the more interesting Semifinal round and the Wimbledon starting in England, the three way series between Australia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe wasn’t given much of a priority by the sports fans. The final of the series that concluded yesterday, however, eventually turned quite a few heads as the thrilling encounter led to a number of records being broken on Sunday.

After Australia posted a whopping 183 runs on the board, few would have fancied Pakistan to end victorious by the end of the match, but Fakhar Zaman’s heroics proved to be enough as Pakistan successfully chased the record number of runs to register a new personal record in T20I.
Quartet of records tumbled by Fakhar Zaman
In a match that proved Fakhar Zaman as a player capable of anchoring his team to big wins against capable opposition, the 28-year-old tumbled two new records. In the process of hammering the Aussie bowlers, the opener became the highest run scorer in T20Is during 2018 with 516 runs surpassing Australian Aaron Finch with 464 runs.

Fakhar also secured the record of scoring the most number of runs in a T20I series for Pakistan by registering 278 runs in the five matches he played.

Zaman also secured his position amongst the top five Pakistani players with the highest individual score of 91 against the Aussies.
No player has scored more in a T20I final than Fakhar Zaman. The previous record was held by Marlon Samuels, courtesy of his 85* in the 2016 World T20 final. Zaman now holds the record courtesy of his 91.
Pakistan win a final against Australia for the first time in 28 years
Prior to Sunday, Pakistan had lost a final to former World Champions Australia eight times. The last time Pakistan managed to oust the Aussies in a final was back in 1990 when Wasim Akram’s hat trick demolished the Kangaroos.

Pakistan have not lost a single T20I whilst chasing under Sarfraz’s captaincy
A team that was once known for breaking down under pressure whilst chasing down totals has seemingly took a 180-degree turn. Under Sarfraz’s captaincy, the national team were able to chase down the target for the 10th consecutive time; the most by any international team.
