Dilshan’s all-round brilliance took Sri Lanka into quarterfinals of the ICC World Cup 2011 on Thursday when they bowled out Zimbabwe at 188 in 39 overs.In an important match of Group A at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lankas Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan recorded the fourth-highest stand for any wicket in a one-day international, scoring 282 before they were parted. Tharanga was eventually out for 133, caught by Elton Chigumbura off Chris Mpofu in the 45th over and Dilshan, on 144, followed shortly afterwards, caught by Chigumbura off Prosper Utseya.The duo sailed past the previous World Cup best for the first wicket of 194 made by Pakistans Saeed Anwar and Wajahatullah Wasti against New Zealand in Manchester in 1999. Sri Lanka were put into bat by Zimbabwe in a game where victory for the co-hosts will guarantee a quarter-final place.Chasing a huge target of 328 runs, Zimbabwe openers set a good start of 116 runs with Taylor (80) and Chakabva (35). No other batsman could resist against the quality bowling. Dilshan picked 4 wickets and Muralitharan took 3 wickets to set a convincing victory of 139 runs.
