(Dunya News) – Pakistani women in sports are stepping ahead and making their mark nationally, and now aspire to do the same internationally.
The very first boxing championship for women on national level was held in Lahore where the young boxers enthralled the audience.
The championship held for both men and women was received well by people who came in to support the boxers. Twenty eighteen marks the 36th championship for men and for women, this is a first.
Razia Bano of Lyari represented Sindh shined throughout her performance and bagged her success in the flyweight opening round fight held against Balochistan’s Rabia Bibi.

“Boxers are never afraid of the punches," said Razia Bano while speaking to Dunya News.
President of Olympics association was among the guests and applauded all female boxers’ performance. Speaking to media Arif Hasan praised the presence of women in boxing and said that more female athletes from Pakistan will play on international level.
While women were given the platform in a national championship for the first time, many male boxers complained that there are less opportunities given to them to play at an international level.
In boxing, Pakistan has not won any medal in Olympics since 2004.
