ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Two Pakistanis managed to book their place in the second round of the third International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures event, after beating their respective opponents on Tuesday, here on the clay courts of the Islamabad Tennis Complex.

Davis Cuppers Yasir Khan and M. Abid Ali Khan Akbar defeated Tegbir Singh Hara of Canada and Heera Ashiq of Pakistan, respectively, becoming the second and third Pakistanis to book their places in the second round of the international event, after Ahmed Choudhary secured his place in the same earlier on Monday.

Yasir, Abid, and Ahmed are three of nine Pakistanis who managed to participate in the main draw of the coveted event. The other six – Aqeel Khan, Heera Ashiq, Muhammad Abid, Samir Iftikhar, Shahzad Khan, and Muzammil Murtaza – failed to move past the first round in the last of three ITF events being held in Islamabad this year.

In the second round, Ahmed Choudhary would open play on the Center Court, playing Spanish second seed Enrique Lopez-Perez at 10 am on Wednesday, followed by M. Abid Ali Khan Akbar who would play Indian Kunal Anand, while Yasir would play top-seeded Russian Ivan Nedelko in the second match to be played on Court Number 1.
