Summary Sri Lanka defeated Canada by 210 runs in their first world cup match played at Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota in Sri Lanka.
Batting first, Sri Lanka put a massive target of 333 runs against Canada but Canada could only score 122 runs in 36.5 overs. Kulasekara and Perera took 3 wickets each. Rizwan Cheema was the only batsman who reached forties.Earlier, Sri Lanka chose to bat after winning the toss against Canada and their decision proved right when all of their main batsmen succeeded to score.Twin fifties and one century made it possible for Sri Lanka to make a wonderful start of their world cup campaign as one of the favorites of the mega event.
