Summary Brazilian retired footballer Ronaldo has been appointed a member of the World Cup 2014 organising committee.
He made the announcement in a ceremony, organized in Sao Paulo to honour him. Ronaldo - the highest goalscorer in the competitions history - said he was enthusiastic about his new role. It was an honour to be able to help the governor of Sao Paulo and to make Sao Paulo a better place for the best World Cup of all time, said Ronaldo.Brazilian World Cup organisers are confident Sao Paulo will stage the opening game of the tournament even though plans for the new Corinthians stadium have still yet to be approved.
