VIENNA, May 28, 2014 (AFP) - Struggling Austria Vienna on Wednesday named Gerald Baumgartner as their new coach, charged with reviving the club's fortunes after a disappointing season.

The 49-year-old Baumgartner took second division Sankt-Polten to this year's Austrian Cup final, having won the trophy with third division Pasching the previous year.

Austrian champions in 2013, Austria Vienna finished fourth last season, well behind champions Saltzburg and, and failing to qualify for the Europa League.

They also finished last in their Champions League group behind Atletico Madrid, Zenit St-Petersburg and Porto.
