PRAGUE (AFP) - World number six Petra Kvitova will lead the Czech Republic against defending champions Italy in the Fed Cup semi-finals in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava on April 19-20, a spokesman said Tuesday.
Kvitova will team up with 26th-ranked Lucie Safarova, 31st-ranked Klara Koukalova and doubles specialist Andrea Hlavackova, Czech Fed Cup team spokesman Karel Tejkal told AFP.
On the hardcourt of the CEZ Arena, Italy will rely on world number 11 Sara Errani and 16th-ranked Roberta Vinci alongside 50th-ranked Karin Knapp and 69th-ranked Camila Giorgi, according to the Fed Cup website www.fedcup.com.
The two teams have been taking turns as Fed Cup champions for the last five years, with Italy lifting the trophy in 2009, 2010 and 2013 and the Czechs winning in 2011 and 2012.
In the other semi-final, Australia take on Germany in Brisbane.
