SYDNEY: European Tour player Marcus Fraser of Australia shot his second consecutive 3-under-par 69 Friday to take the early second-round lead at the Australian Open.

 

Fraser had five birdies and two bogeys Friday to move to 6-under 138 at The Lakes. First-round leader John Senden shot 66 on Thursday and had an afternoon start Friday along with Adam Scott and Justin Rose.

 

Tom Watson shot a 68 Friday after his 78 Thursday and was on the cut line of 2-over. He was joined by playing partner and defending champion Greg Chalmers, who shot 75 Friday.

 

Guan Tianlang, the 14-year-old Chinese amateur who will play in next year's U.S. Masters, improved on his opening 82 to shoot 70 Friday, but will miss the cut by at least five strokes.
