Summary LHC has accepted petition against ban on basant and sought reply from Punjab government on March 2.
Owner of a thread manufacturing company, Muhammad Bashir, argued before the court that the Supreme Court in 2007 asked government and affectees resolve the issue of celebration of basant. However, the government slapped a ban on basant, rendering thousands of people jobless.He prayed to the court to lift ban on basant to enable thread and kite manufacturers to start their business.The Lahore High Court (LHC) accepted the petition and asked Punjab government to submit written reply on March 2.
