Summary Governor Sindh approved a security law for shopkeepers, like that of enforced in Punjab.

Ishrat Ul-Ebad Khan had chaired a meeting in this regard on Wednesday to finalize the law under which shopkeepers of main markets will have to arrange their own security, hiring private security guards.Reports said that actions have also been suggested against shop-owners for not abiding by the law.On the other hand, business community has opposed the decision, saying that the government has failed to provide security to masses, especially traders and business community of the city as 10 to 12 citizens are being gunned down every month in robbery bids.Shopkeepers are of the view that by promulgating the law the government intends to give leniency to police and Rangers which are solely responsible for maintaining law and order in the city. They said the move would also indirectly promote businesses of private security companies.
