Summary A youth killed his girlfriend and tried to commit suicide when they were caught while fleeing home.
The tragic incident occurred in Ariya Nagar near Khanewal. According to details, parents of the ill-fated girl, Kiran, were planning the weeding of their daughter against her will. Kiran telephoned her relative Shairi, a resident of Sahiwal, and decided to elope with him.The villagers caught Shairi and Kiran when they were fleeing the village upon which both of them decided to end their life. Shairi opened fire on Kiran with his pistol in presence of police and villagers and killed her on the spot and then tried to commit suicide but the bullet stuck and villagers nabbed him. The villagers also tortured Shairi who was later shifted to a hospital by Police.
