Summary Makli graveyard has been left at the mercy of circumstances despite being a world heritage.
Despite the UNESCO’s one-year monitoring, no positive results have appeared in this regard.The historical Mohanjodaro, Taxila and Makli graveyard have been listed as world heritage but no extraordinary measures have been taken apart from mere lip service.Despite its transfer from the Centre to the province, this historical heritage is yet victim of disintegration, decay and decadence and no seriousness in being shown.The government of Pakistan is bound to technical assistance of the UNESCO but no proper actions have been taken in this regard. It is the biggest graveyard in Asia but still lying unnoticed due to negligence of the Archaeology Department.If it is treated with such cold-heartedness, one day it would be turned into a heap of mud and would form best textbook subject.
