Summary Dacoits took full advantage of poor security in Karachi and robed 10 banks in last nine months.
The Sindh government announced taking new security measures to stop the increasing number of bank robberies in Karachi but no practical implementation was made to fend off the heists.It was decided that the whereabouts of the guards working in banks should be submitted in the police station concerned after guards were found accomplice in various incidents of bank heist but the proposal could not be materialised.Guards were also found guilty in the biggest robbery of Pakistan’s history in which some Rs 310 million were ripped off.The militants of band outfits also started mugging banks to fund their militancy since 2007.Police arrested 12 bank robbers in 2010 while six in 2011.
